Pedro Soma and USA at the CONCACAF Tournament
CONCACAF U17 refers to the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football Under-17 Championship, which is a biennial football tournament for national teams of players under the age of 17. The tournament is organized by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), which is the governing body for football in the region.
The tournament features teams from the CONCACAF region, including the United States, Mexico, Canada, and various Caribbean and Central American nations. The winner of the tournament qualifies for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The CONCACAF U17 Championship is an important competition for young footballers in the region, as it provides a platform for them to showcase their talent and develop their skills. Many players who have competed in the tournament have gone on to have successful careers in professional football.
It is no coincidence that players trained in the UE Cornellà youth academy succeed in the best European leagues at the professional level, but it is also no coincidence that young talents make their way and make a difference in international commitments with their countries.
This is the case of Pedro Soma, current youth player of UE Cornellà, who has been the sensation in the Concacaf U-17 tournament that he has just played with his USA national team. Final result 3-1 against Mexico and scoring the only goal for his team.
Already in his cadet stage he aroused the interest of the USA, being the only athlete, along with a goalkeeper, who came from Spanish soccer. Training, preparatory sessions, friendlies… and now CONCACAF! Pedro Soma continues to achieve goals and at only 17 years old he can already say that he has qualified with his national team for the World Cup, after beating Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Dominican Republic and Guatemala, but it is clear that there is a lot of work behind all this.
His home club, UE Cornellà, continues to work tirelessly, hand in hand with WOSPAC, its international partner, in order to train and get the best out of young talents. Thanks to the growth and potential of WOrd SPort ACademy, a leading company in its sector and partner of one of the best youth academies in Spain, many footballers continue to fulfill their dreams and achieve their goals. Only through hard work, effort and a lot of passion for soccer can all objectives be achieved.
